My
forms are a casual yet elegant combination of my free spirit and
constant pursuit for great craftsmanship. I believe that hand made
pots create an unspoken enjoyment between myself and those who use
them – a human interaction void from mass produced ceramics.
I carefully calculate their size and weight to make them inviting
and comfortable to hold which creates a harmony between aesthetics
and practicality.
I
make all my pieces on the potter’s wheel with stoneware or
porcelain. Even pieces that look very similar are individually made
and thus have subtle differences. I take great pride in the quality
of my work and will not sell any piece that does not meet my highest
standard.
I
fire my pots in a gas kiln to cone 10 (2350 F) in a reduction atmosphere.
This creates a strong and vitreous clay and glaze. All pieces are
food safe and can be used in the microwave, dishwasher and oven.
When using them in the oven, it is best to put them in a warm oven
and bring up the temperature gradually. They cannot be used on the
stove or a grill.
